Lissandra, the Ice Witch

Overview:

Lissandra provides me with a bit of a dilemma. Her kit is fairly holistic and provides the unique niche of a mage that wants to initiate fights head-first, and her functions are icy enough - she has slows, roots, and can even freeze enemies (or herself) solid. But, despite all this, she doesn't really feel like "Lissandra".

Hopefully it doesn't seem like I'm looking at Lissandra's current gameplay identity with cold indifference as I rewrite it into something unrecognizable - but it really is important to me that a champion's thematic fantasy and gameplay fantasy are completely aligned for maximum impact. So what, then, is appropriate for the implacable, controlling, and ever-watching Ice Witch?

-

With hyper-aggressive, in-your-face initiation not being the most natural fit for the cold and calculating Lissandra, the natural reaction is to pull back - way back. Sitting on a frozen throne, this new Lissandra is all about maintaining an icy grip on the battlefield while making herself as difficult to approach as possible.

Keeping constant pressure, restricting enemy movement, and making the terrain around her as unforgiving as the Freljord itself, Lissandra's new raison d'être is claiming uncontested dominion over vital points of the map - daring her foes to brave the treacherous Black Ice between them to dethrone her.

-

Due to the nature of these changes, very little of the old Lissandra remains. That said, due to her icy nature, she still has plenty of movement-impairing abilities. The frozen terrain from her previous Ult also remains, as does her ability to teleport to distant masses of ice.

She also provides some opportunities to bring back some displaced abilities, such as a more menacing and chess-like interpretation of Gangplank's barrel game, as well as Anivia's ice wall and Karthus's spammable long-range area attacks.

All values in blue are meant to give a general idea of the ability's properties, and are subject to change.

Class: Artillery

Recommended Positions: Solo Midlane

Complexity: Medium

Innate: Black Storm

Lissandra conjures a storm of Black Ice around herself while no enemy champions are within 550 units of her, reducing the damage she suffers from enemy champions by 10%. If

Black Storm hasn't mitigated damage within the past 6 seconds, this effect increases by

(1 per 100 AP)% every second, up to (8 per 100 AP)%

Q: Ice Shard

Lissandra creates a shard of Black Ice at the target location that detonates after 0.5 seconds, dealing 45/65/85/105/125 + (30% AP) magic damage to enemies in the area. If only one enemy is in the area, Ice Shard deals 90/130/170/210/250 + (60% AP) magic damage and slows them by 35% for 2 seconds.

Range: 700 (target range), 160 (effect radius)

Targeting Type: Skill Shot - Circle

Cooldown:

Cost: 20/26/32/38/44 mana

W: Wall of Frost

Lissandra summons an impassible wall of Black Ice at the target location perpendicular to which way she is facing, pushing enemies above it to its furthest side from Lissandra as it forms. The wall will recede back into the ground after 5 seconds, or upon re-activation.

Range: 700 (target range), 400/500/600/700/800 (wall length)

Targeting Type: Skill Shot - Perpendicular Line

Cooldown: 17

Cost: 70 mana

E: Cold Snap

PASSIVE: Lissandra stores a charge of Cold Snap every 18/16/14/12/10 seconds, up to a maximum of 3.

ACTIVE: Lissandra summons a Black Ice Pillar with 3 health at the target location for 25 seconds, which connects to other Pillars with overlapping shatter radii. Pillars that have more than 1 health will slowly crack, losing 1 health every 2 to 0.5 (based on level) seconds.

Lissandra and her enemies can attack the Pillar with basic attacks, dealing 1 damage per hit. Lissandra may also damage the Pillar with Ice Shard. If Lissandra scores the killing blow, it shatters, also triggering a chain reaction that shatters nearby connected Pillars. If killed by an enemy, the Pillar is safely toppled.

A shattered Pillar deals 70/105/140/175/210 + (70% AP) magic damage to nearby enemies and slows them by 80%, decaying over 1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5 seconds. If shattered by Ice Shard, it also ignores 40% of enemy champions' magic resist and roots enemies instead of slowing them.

Range: 700 (target range), 325 (effect radius)

Targeting Type: Skill Shot - Circle

Cooldown: 0.5

Cost: 1 charge

R: Frozen Throne

Lissandra creates a Throne of Black Ice with 1250/2500/3750 + (50% AP) health at the target location, immediately turning the ground in an area around it into a Frozen Domain that reduces enemy movement speed by 50 and spreads over 12 seconds.

While within Frozen Domain, Lissandra can right-click the Throne to channel for 1.75 seconds before teleporting to it, sitting upon it and converting its remaining health into a shield. While sitting upon the Throne, Lissandra's abilities can be cast anywhere within her Frozen Domain, and she gains obscured vision of enemies standing upon it.

Lissandra can leave the Throne by moving away from it, immobilizing her for 1.75 seconds and converting her shield back into the Throne's remaining health.

Placing a new Frozen Throne will immediately destroy the previous one. This ability cools down twice as quickly while no Frozen Thrones remain.

Range: 700 (target range), 700 (initial effect radius), 1400 (final effect radius)

Targeting Type: Skill Shot - Placement

Cooldown: 120/100/80

Cost: 100 mana
